and given that most contracts are 1 year (these and other facts here in our FaQ)
we’ll see some of these places again in ‘09.

Best Design- New Apartments
The Top of City Penthouse
This unique 2 bedroom penthouse was only available for a mere week (in summer) before it got snapped by some lucky new-shanghai-ers. 
Though not the largest penthouse we had, this place seemed just perfect.
Everything fit, it was thought through to the smallest detail. 
And it’s stylish contemporary oriental furniture well contrasted the modern aspects of the apartment.

 Amazing Hunan Road Apartment with two Gardens
This beautiful apartment was available for a short period of time in the very first weeks of ‘08, yet it was one of the first apartments that came to mind for this award.
Charming historic details, wonderful lighting, lot’s of natural light, art-deco bathrooms, stylish hand-made wooden furniture, and two gardens.
Lucky for you, (and us) this place might become available again in february.

Best Design- Old Houses
 Crazy Jiangsu Rd Lane House
This was a tough one, it was a year full of fantastic lane houses that just came out.
We voted on this house (though fairly close) because of it’s spacious and very bright rooms.
The solarium in the first floor, the large kitchen, the basement, the huge living room, the stylish and spacious bathrooms, open spaces, built in radiators, built in closets, balconies, garden and terrace.
Briefly explained, it was the most complete house we found in ‘08. Everything was there.
Literally everything.
And on top of it, it gave a lot of value for it’s price. Check it out

Runner up: Plaza 66 Lane House (this runner up is from two weeks ago and still available!)
